לברון, שנשאל על דעתו על אבדיה ועל מסר לאוהדים בישראל, פירגן לכוכב פורטלנד ("הוא אולסטאר ובצדק") והוסיף כי מעולם לא ביקר בישראל אך שמע דברים נהדרים והוא מקווה להגיע אליה בעתיד. הדברים הללו, שנאמרו בנימה חיובית ומכבדת, הציתו "אש" מיידית בקרב פעילים אנטי-ישראליים וגופי תקשורת המזוהים עם הצד הפלסטיני.
